More than 1,000 people turned up for Walk, Run & Cycle event and Carival held in conjunction with the World Heart Day 2019 celebration at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien yesterday.
It was organised by Gleneagles JPMC in collaboration with Ministry of Health.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar was the guest of honour.
Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the MoH Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, CEO of Southeast Asia Operations Division at Parkway Pantai Limited Dr Chan Boon Kheng and CEO of Gleneagles JPMC Dr Peter Tay were also present.
The event began with the flag-off for the 1.5km and 3km Fun Walk, the 10km Fun Cycle and the 11km Competitive Run for male and female runners.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham joined the 3km Fun Walk around the capital, after which he toured a carnival set up for the occasion featuring activities such as health checks and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstrations.
The minister also signed on a pledge banner for World Heart Day 2019 which bore the theme ‘My Heart, Your Heart’.
