Gleneagles JPMC continues to raise the bar in clinical quality by making history by securing first place in the prestigious Clinical Excellence category at the 9th IHH Quality Summit, held from 27th to 28th September in Mumbai, India. Competing against over 80 leading hospitals from 10 countries, Gleneagles JPMC was recognised for its innovative quality improvement project, Operation Clean Cut: Reducing Surgical Site Infections.
This award celebrates the hospital’s ongoing efforts in their commitment to deliver exceptional healthcare services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and fostering sustainable progress through clinical governance and innovation. The award-winning project: Operation Clean Cut, was developed in response to a rise in surgical site infections (SSI) in cardiac surgery patients, particularly those undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Through a series of key interventions, including updated SSI prevention protocols, staff training, and regular audits, the infection rate was reduced from 7.7% to an impressive 0.7%. These improvements have significantly boosted patient outcomes and reduced recovery times, and hospital stays.
The award was accepted by Mr. Azizulaliff Bin Mumin, a local staff nurse from the operating theatre, who presented the project on behalf of the Gleneagles JPMC team. He received the recognition from Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Fortis Healthcare, India, alongside with Mr. ‘Izzul Hamzi Bin Haji Jomari, Chief Operating Officer of Gleneagles JPMC, Dr. Nur Zahiah binti Zubir, Quality Manager of Gleneagles JPMC and Mr Danial Hakim bin Zainal Abidin, Senior Quality Improvement Officer of Gleneagles JPMC.
