Gleneagles JPMC celebrates Nurses Day with Pusat Ehsan

International Nurses Day is celebrated worldwide on 12 May. In conjunction with this milestone, Gleneagles JPMC this morning celebrated the occasion by hosting an event with parents and children of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam.

Present at the event was Pengiran Datin Hajah Noraini Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja binti Pengiran Haji Abd Momin, Executive Trustee of Pusat Ehsan, ‘Izzul Hamzi bin Haji Jomari, Chief Operating Officer of Gleneagles JPMC, staff of Gleneagles JPMC, members of Pusat Ehsan, parents and children of Pusat Ehsan.

Delivering the welcoming remarks during the event was the Director of Nursing at Gleneagles JPMC, Ms Chandra Devi Durairajoo.

“Today we celebrate International Nurses Day 2023 with the theme "Our Nurses Our Future", emphasising protecting nurses to be respected and valued. Nurses are uniquely positioned to address the complex challenges healthcare systems face today, from pandemics to the growing burden of chronic disease. They bring a wealth of knowledge, skills, and expertise to their work, essential to ensuring that patients receive high-quality, safe, and effective care” said by Ms Chandra.

She also emphasised that although International Nurses Day is primarily focused on celebrating and appreciating the contributions of nurses, we also appreciate the vital role that other healthcare professionals play in the healthcare system. We work hand in hand to provide
patients with the best possible care.

The event kicked off with an educational hand washing and Zumba dance with the nurses from Gleneagles JPMC along with the parents and children of Pusat Ehsan. During the event, parents were briefed on basic first aid, guidance on how to respond to cases of child epilepsy
and choking. Aside from that, the children were also treated to a role play simulation of doctors and patients in a clinic, with the objective to educate them how patients are being consulted and treated.

The children also enjoyed other fun activities including dancing and singing.
