Last night, Gleneagles JPMC specifically the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit (CRU) organized a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration and gathering with the patients of cardiac rehab. The event was held at Parkview Hotel, Jerudong.
Present as the guest of honour for the event was ‘Izzul Hamzi bin Haji Jomari, Chief Operating Officer of Gleneagles JPMC.
In his opening remarks, ‘Izzul Hamzi highlighted that the Cardiac Rehabilitation program is recognized as an important element in reducing the risk of associated mortality, and improving cardiovascular function to help patients optimize their quality of life after undergoing angioplasty and also surgery.
The program was introduced in 2006 and with around 200 patients currently registered, the main objective is to educate and emphasize to patients on the importance of lifestyle modification especially in exercise and dietary control, while adhering to the discipline of taking medications and to stop smoking. Aside from that, the program also focuses on keeping track of the patients’ improvement in their exercise tolerance, progression and readiness to be more active after their cardiac event and be able to understand the need of lifestyle modification to prevent reoccurence.
Other than celebrating Hari Raya, the annual event was organized to foster relationships between the CRU staff and also the patients. The event witnessed activities including games and lucky draw.
